I was thinking tonight about what I wanted to blog about. There are so many things that run through my head, but the thing that finally popped into my head and stayed there was my four year old's smile. He has one of those smiles that just makes you happy, even more so because he loves to see you brighten up. You can just see how much he enjoys life, and how much he loves life in his smile. I forget about this sometimes as the duties of motherhood bog me down. As the chores pile up, and the aches and pains of the day weigh on me. I forget to even really look at him sometimes.
I've found myself in this same rut with laboring women. I get so bogged down with the duties and tasks, that sometimes I forget the beauty and love in the birth of a new child. So here's my reminder to myself, both as a mom and a support for laboring women....remember the smiles and the awe in the beauty of our children. While many tasks call to us, they are just the means to an end...the end being the creation, sustaining, and love of our family. Nothing else in this world compares to those moments. But we have to watch for them, and not let them pass. We have to look through the trials, aches and pains, and not let the beauty of the moment be passed over.
I think I'll go watch my beautiful kids sleep for a moment......
